Our bundle of JOY!!

Taylor Lynn McQueen is here!!! She already is showing characteristics of being like mommy and uncle Boyd....impatient!! She decided to make her entrance into the world over 5 weeks early! Audrey asked me to post this since she is in the hospital.

On Thursday, Audrey had an appt with her OB. They did their "usual checking" and said she was not dilated at all and her cervix was still long and no where near delivery! Dr. Plowman gave her a 5% chance of delivering in the next 4 weeks. Well this goes to show that Dr's don't know everything!! :)

That night Audrey went to bed and noticed the baby kicking more than usual and wondered if everything was ok. Not too long after that the gush of fluid came. Initially she thought she peed the bed, but as water kept gushing all over her hardwood floor she knew this was the REAL thing! She was nervous because it was so early. So they hopped in the truck and went to the ER in Springerville. Audrey was so panicked (what mom wouldn't be), she went to the hospital in her nightgown. After getting the run around by several different nurses at the ER in Springerville (some things NEVER change), her and Crystal hopped in the truck and headed for ShowLow in the middle of a snowstorm. Apparently several parts of the trip there was little to no visibility. During all of this, Roger is sleeping peacefully...in DENVER, Co!!!!!

After arriving in Showlow and immediately being taken back, they confirmed her water did break and they ordered the air-evac to get ready. There wasn't room for Crystal, so she had to drive to the valley by herself at 2:00am. Audrey arrived at St. Joe's about 4am and Crystal arrived about 4:30am.

They got all settled in and Roger arrived about 9:00am. She was only dilated to a 1, so they had a lot of work to do before she could have the baby. They gave her pills to help soften her cervix every 3 hrs or so. Then they were supposedly giving her pain medication through her IV to help with the cramping that the pills cause and come to find out, they were giving her THYROID medication on accident. Thankfully it didn't cause any harm to her or the baby, but poor Audrey could have had some relief with pain medication, but never got it!!

Finally this morning she was dilated to a 3, so they were able to giver her an epidural since the baby was finally REALLY on her way! By 11:30 or so she had an epidural and was enjoying life again. She was instructed to take a nap since she had 2 hrs of sleep in the past 30 hrs. So Roger and Crystal left, but Audrey got caught! She wasn't napping, she was calling me. :) :) But honestly, how much sleep can one actually get in the hospital when nurses are taking your blood pressure every 30 minutes, housekeeping is coming in to empty your trash and the cafeteria is bringing your yummy broth to you??

Early afternoon she started really progressing. In about 30 minutes she went from a 6-10. She kept feeling like she needed to push and the nurses were like oh you have plenty of time before that will actually come. Finally the nurse had her do 2 trial pushes and low and behold they saw hair!! So they scrambled to get the doctors.

As they got all set up and getting started, Roger noticed Obama was on the tv. He said the tv had to go off because he was NOT going to have his kid be born and the first thing she sees and hears is Obama...so the tv went off! lol After about 10 minutes of pushing and 10-12 pushes, Taylor Lynn McQueen made her debut into this world about 4pm at 4lbs 14oz and 18.5 inches. Exactly 2 weeks and 1 hr after cousin Hayes made his debut. Apparently she is the porker among the other 20 babies in the NICU, who are all around 2 pounds and is already known as the loud mouth since she was screaming her head off and all the other babies aren't even making a peep. She wasn't pinking up as fast as they liked, so they started her on antibiotics because she probably had an infection. After a couple hours, her color improved a ton and there's a possibility she can come be with mommy soon.

These pictures don't even do justice to the amount of HAIR she has!! She has more hair than Kason does at 5 yrs old!!

Anyhow Audrey is doing great is glad her emotional roller coaster of a pregnancy is finally over and she has her miracle baby here safe and sound. Hopefully I didn't miss too much, this is going off of a nursing mom who is losing A LOT of sleep at nights...memory. Love ya Audrey and we couldn't be happier for you.

Love,
Jaime
